Supporting Young Minds, Guiding Families
At Deborah Nott Psychology, I’m dedicated to walking alongside young people and their families as they navigate the ups and downs of growing, learning, and developing. I believe every child and adolescent has the potential to thrive when supported with care that is compassionate, respectful, and grounded in evidence-based practice.
My practice is located in South Melbourne, a community that holds deep personal meaning, as my family has lived here for five generations. It’s a privilege to offer support to the families of this vibrant area and to give back to the place I call home.
I offer a wide range of psychological services for children, adolescents, and their families, with a focus on emotional wellbeing, learning, behaviour, and neurodevelopmental needs. Every young person is unique, and my approach is always collaborative and strengths-based—tailored to honour the individual experiences, cultures, and neurotypes of those I work with.
Above all, I strive to create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment where young people feel safe, understood, and empowered to be their authentic selves. Whether you're navigating school challenges, mental health concerns, or developmental differences, I’m here to support you on your journey.
My Approach
I enjoy working with children and young people (aged 6 to 18 years) and their families to support emotional wellbeing, mental health, and learning. I am passionate about supporting clients on their neurodiverse-affirming journey. I acknowledge that every neurodivergent person is unique with specific strengths, differences and needs.
My assessment approach is holistic and individualised, carefully considering each child’s unique cognitive, learning, emotional, behavioural, and developmental profile. I offer comprehensive neurodevelopmental and psychoeducational assessments to investigate learning difficulties and developmental differences. My counselling style draws from different therapeutic frameworks, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment theory and Schema Therapy.
My work is built on collaboration—with children, families, and educational settings ensuring that strategies are practical, effective, and sustainable. I provide educational consultation and ongoing support, helping families and schools to better understand each child’s needs and implement recommendations that support learning and psychological wellbeing. My goal is to empower children and the adults around them with the knowledge and tools to thrive.

“It takes a village to raise a child”
The saying “it takes a village to raise a child,” comes from an African proverb and highlights the idea that raising a child requires support from an entire community. It suggests that children thrive best in a nurturing environment where many people contribute to their safety, well-being, and growth, helping them reach their full potential and pursue their aspirations.
